Robert H. Barney, 74, of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, died on October 31, 2012, at Shore Medical Center, Somers Point, NJ. Fondly known as Bob, he was born in Cambridge, MA, on March 13, 1938, to Kenneth M. and Elizabeth H. Barney. In 1955, he graduated from Arlington H.S. and survived the last widespread polio epidemic. On June 14, 1959, he married Judith Anne Kievit, of Toledo, Ohio, with whom he shared 53 loving years. He graduated from U Mass, B.A., 1961, and Rutgers Law, J.D., 1987. Bob worked as a public health administrator for NY Dept. Health, Albany Medical College, SouthShore Health Plan, and Bacharach Rehab. Hosp. After law school, he worked as an attorney for Cooper, Perskie law firm, then Casino Control Commission. He retired in 2008. He was a member of Delta Dental of NJ, Bd. of Trustees, 1974-2012; Eagle Scout and lifelong scouter; volunteer firefighter; Pacific Lodge AF&AM, Amherst, MA; Exchange Club member; Navy League member; avid boater and fisherman; and WWII history buff. He is survived by wife Judith; son Duncan K. Barney, daughter-in-law Kathleen B. Barney, granddaughter Anne B. Barney; daughter Ellen Barney Balint, grandsons Christopher B. Balint and Mitchell B. Balint. A gathering in celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
