Leon Armstrong, “Lee”, 83 April 1, 1929 to January 22, 2013 Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ before moving to Atlantic County, Lee was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathleen; and his precious daughter, MaryPat. Lee passed away surrounded by his loving children who stood vigil over him during his final days. Lee is survived by his sister, Mary Menadier of Passaic; and seven devoted children Kevin (Cindy), Michael (Debbie), Kathleen Blevin (Kevin), Timothy (Tina), Colleen Reed, Beth Wisser (Joe), and James (Jackie); and son-in-law, Brian Dunlevy (MaryPat). He also leaves a legacy of 25 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Lee was a veteran of the United States Army; he was retired from United States Lines in New York City and the Atlantic County Superior Court System where he proudly worked for 15 years. His life was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved weekend camping trips with his grandchildren, watching them grow and attending their sporting events. Lee had a unique, special relationship with his son-in-laws Bob Reed and Kevin Blevin. Lee was a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan. He followed the Eagles and Phillies with great passion. Lee was also a former member of Assumption Parish in Pomona where he served on many committees and volunteered much of his time. More recently he was a founding member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Egg Harbor Township where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Services are as follows: Viewing services are on Monday, January 28th from 9am-11am at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, followed by Mass from 11am. Burial immediately following the funeral Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s research organization of their choice.
