Margaret E. Donnelly – Brown, 60, of Egg Harbor Township, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and devoted friend to many, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
She leaves behind her son, Paul W. Leidy and daughter-in-law, Madelaine DeLaRosa; daughter, Mariellen Donnelly and son-in-law, Robert Rose; grandchildren, Hayden and Lydia Leidy and Brendan Rose, who all loved her endlessly. Her mother, Carmena Brown; her sister, Concetta Brown and brother, Paul Brown. She is preceded in death by her father, Bernard J. Brown and brother, Bernard F. Brown. Loving aunts, and uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Margaret graduated from Holy Spirit High School with Honors and a Scholarship and from ACCC with an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. She worked for Verizon as a directory assistance operator for 33 years until her retirement.. She also served as a Union Shop Steward then VP for CWA Local 1012.
After retirement, Margaret worked as a substitute teacher and banquet server. She was compassionate and loving to everyone she met. She was patient and a very good listener. She brightened the lives she touched. For the year after her diagnosis, Margaret remained positive and optimistic for herself and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11am at St. Gianna Beretta Molla / Church of St. Bernadette, 1421 New Road in Northfield. A visitation will be held from 10am until the time of Mass at the Church. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
