Ruth Elaine Jenkins (Lingelbach), born June 6, 1926 died December 9, 2013 peacefully in her home after a couragous battle with Alzheimers disease. Ruth was born on a farm in Absecon and cared for her parents and 5 siblings. This nurturing quality was a strength that she drew on as she raised her 6 children in the town of her birth. She truly thrived on caring for her children and extended family. The joy of her life was to be needed and she was always there on a moments notice and was the last one standing in any job to be done.
She and her husband Jack, enjoyed traveling through Europe and flying to Louisiana to visit family. They were introduced to snow skiing, which soon became a family passion. They taught all their children and shared the fun with so many others. This led them to buy a home in Vt. that they renovated together. Ruth’s dream of a family Christmas in Vt. came true. They also enjoyed many ski trips with friends through out the U.S.
After she attended Pleasantville High School class of ’42’, she worked at Ben’s BBQ Restaurant. Here she met her husband and the rest is history. She was always involved in the childrens activities, boy scouts, girl scouts and crew parent. She even owned her own fish market in Pleasantville. She took time to raise her 6 children before working at Lenox China for 20 years. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John (Jack) F. Jenkins Sr. and her son Dennis Jenkins, Sr. Ruth leaves behind 5 children: John F. Jenkins, Jr. (Jean), Jaye Mastro (Steven), Jeff Jenkins, Sr. (Kelly), Joanne Jenkins, Jackie Westerfer (Michael). She will be missed by her 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
