Charles Lovett

Charles (Chalie) M. Lovett , 78; passed away suddenly on 7/3/14. Born in Philadelphia, raised in the Chelsea Heights section of Atlantic City; he resided in Egg Harbor Township. After graduating from Holy Spirit High School, he served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Chalie owned and operated Lovett Landscaping for 33 years and worked in construction off season. Active in sports all of his life, he was a player, coach, manager and spectator. He earned letters in high school basketball and baseball. Involved in youth programs, he coached football in Atlantic City and baseball in EHT. For 8 years, he coordinated the EHT basketball program and was honored for his dedication. In 1972, after playing on several softball teams, he formed a team with local athletes called The Over The Hill Gang; starting with an average age of 39. They played together for 17 years and their annual banquets were legendary. Attending the first Phillies Dream Week Camp, going to Notre Dame football games, Celtics basketball games, and playing softball against inmates at Trenton State Prison; were among his favorite memories. In recent years, he became an avid golfer, enjoyed drawing, served as Vice President of ITC, and was a member of Toastmasters and Amvets. He enjoyed the monthly meetings of the Chelsea Heights Gang at the Moose Lodge. Chalie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carole (English), daughter Susan, son Michael, daughter-in-law Lisa, beloved grandsons Joshua and Riley, brother Edward (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Helen (Rorke) Lovett; and his brother, Paul. He was a good friend to many, always willing to help others; and was a consummate jokester. He will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 12 PM. at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish, 1421 New Road Northfield, NJ. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will follow at Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery Pomona, NJ. Arrangements by Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, Inc.
