Jones, Ruth A., 92 of Pleasantville, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 following a brief illness. Born in Easton, Pennsylvania, Ruth relocated with her two daughters to the Atlantic City area in 1956. She was a member of Local 54 for many years, retiring as a banquet server at The Tropicana Casino Hotel at the age of 70. Following her relocation to the area, she secured a position at Sid Hartfields for many years. She also worked at The Colony, Chalfont Haddon Hall, and Atlantic City Race Track. In 1965 she added to her resume winters in Miami Beach, Florida at The Fountainbleu and the famous Wolfie’s. Ruth was a Lifetime Member of the Women’s Club at Shore Memorial Hospital and a Member of the Federation of Senior Citizens of Atlantic County. She was an active participant at the Dr. Leinweber Center in Northfield where she enjoyed various activities, especially bingo. Ruth was also a member of the Gallon Club of the American Red Cross Blood Bank. She was an avid reader and was quite clever with hand sewing. Her greatest joy was spreading good will to friends and family with greeting cards remembering life events and cheering those in poor health. Ruth was very well regarded by the friends she made at the Senior center where she spent many happy hours. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Odsted and Jean Noone. She is survived by her two daughters, Anita Townsend (Gene) of Tavares, FL and Charmaine Glenn of Galloway; four grandchildren: Eugene and Rob Townsend, Christine Salmon (Clayton) and Charlene Townsend; and seven great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A service will be held Friday, February 6th at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.
