Before relocating to Pleasantville, he started delivering heating oil and soon dropped the ice business. In the 70’s he sold home oil to South Jersey Industries and stayed on as fuel operations manager. Charlie worked in the same capacity for Jenkins Plumbing & Heating and Garden State Fuels in the 80’s and early 90’s. Only a stroke kept him from working til his last day. Charlie was VFW Past Commander Post 2389, VFW Life Member Post 8098, and Disabled American Veteran. He was also affiliated with the US LST Association, AC Knights of Columbus, AC Moose Lodge, AC American Legion, Men of Malvern, and the Friendly Friends of St. Patrick. Charlie was a walking history book, excellent singer, King of common sense, and great storyteller. He was an honest, charismatic, hard working father whose humorous spirit will be reflected in his family’s laughter. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; son Charles; and sister Mae.
