Gordon D. Hammack-(87) of Northfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 15, 2015. Gordon was a career Navy man and faithfully served his country for over 20 years active duty and then served through the Fleet Reserve. He was a past president of the Northfield Fleet Reserve Association. He was an aviation electrician mate in the Navy and flew with the Hurricane Hunters when stationed in FL. He received a Good Conduct Medal for his years of service, an American Campaign Medal, an Occupation Service Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Gordon worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Shore Memorial Hospital. Gordon was born in Danville, VA. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betsy, (nee Connelly). Monday, 8/17, would have been their 64th wedding anniversary if she had still been alive- -so Gordon went to join her a few days early to be reunited for their special day. Gordon is survived by his three children: Diane Ennis (Jim), Stephen (Nancy), and Elaine Orefice; 7 grandchildren: Jimmy and Katie; Kyle, Brent (Rachel) and Heather (Jeff); and Brandon and Jason. He has one great-grandson, Isaiah (Zay) Ennis. Gordon was preceded in death by his three sisters: Edna, Lilly, and Viola, and three brothers: Henry, Jack, and Wayne. He is survived by his sisters: Nancy Horsley, Betty Wells, Frances Ricketts, and Mary St. John, and brothers: Sherman and David. Gordon will be sadly missed, but his spirit will live on in those who knew and loved him, we will always remember his quiet ways and gentle smile. He was a true southern gentleman. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, at Adams Perfect Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 10:00 -11:00 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral service. Interment will be at the Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville, NJ.
