Arthur Conover

Arthur L. Conover, Sr. (“Art”, “Wimpy”) Age 82, April 2, 1933 – November 14, 2015 of Pleasantville, NJ, passed away last Saturday, November 14th. Art passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Art was born, raised, and resided in Pleasantville. In 1968, Art founded ALCO Protection Services which served the South Jersey area for over 40 years and in later years, was co-owned with his daughter Brenda. In 1974, Art became a member of the Yacht Club of Pleasantville. As a past Commodore, he has spent the previous 39 years as an active member in a community he was most proud of. He often would refer to the fellow YCP members as his family and enjoyed being of service in building and maintaining the club. He’s affectionately known as the club’s “Superintendent” which was later shortened to “Supe”, as he voluntarily would over see all of operations. In both 1995 and 2013, he was formally acknowledged with the “Commodore’s Award” , YCP’s Member of the Year. Art has a heart for benevolent and charitable organizations that would serve Veteran’s and children with special needs. He was a Charter Member of the Galloway Elks Lodge #2845. Art served in the United States Navy in the Korean War on the U.S.S. Salamonie from 1951-1956. Art was a devoted husband to his pre-deceased wife, Eleanor E. Conover (nee Powell) whom he married in 1956. He was the son of pre-deceased Lemuel and Julia Conover. He is also pre-deceased by his siblings Esther Mullin, Laoma Tarr, Delbert Conover, Lemuel D. Conover, and Lillian Stephenson. He is survived by his children Arthur L. Conover, Jr., Kimberly Conover, and Brenda Conover. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lauren Kimball (Jesse), Alexandra Conover Nunzi (Ray), Danielle Brolewicz, Rachel Brolewicz, and Michael Brolewicz, and his sister, Lois Guion (Tom). Art will be remembered as a man of honor, dignity, and integrity with a beloved formidable sense of humor. A viewing will be held Thursday November 19th, from 6-8pm and Friday November 20th, 10-11am with a Methodist Service immediately following at Adams Perfect Funeral Home in Northfield, NJ. A burial with Military Honors to follow at Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery in Estelle Manor, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to made payable to Elks National Foundation 120 S. New York Road Galloway, NJ 08205. Arrangements entrusted to Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes.
