Eric Astin

Astin, Eric J., 69 of Ligonier, PA, passed away in an automobile accident on Thursday, September 13, 2012.

Eric and his twin brother, Gary were born in Atlantic City on June 11, 1943 to Harry and Doris Astin of Pleasantville. He graduated from Pleasantville High School, Class of 1961 and went on to join the Carpenters Union, Local 623. He retired from the union in 2002 after 42 years.

Eric was active in politics, and was a councilman and president of the Republican party in the city of Pleasantville. He coached in the Northfield All Sports Assoc. for many years, coaching kids in basketball and baseball.

He loved to travel, especially to Alaska and the Poconos. He enjoyed camping, flea markets, studying the Civil War, and spending time with his family.

Eric always had a smile on his face, and a loving way about him. He will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Dr. Jan K. Astin. He is survived by his twin brother, Gary; his wife of 13 years, Marcia; his sons, Brandon (Kelly) and Taylor Astin; his daughters, Michelle (John) Crean, and Renee Astin; his step-son, Warren Weimer, Jr.; and two grandsons. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 6-8pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00am at Parkway South Seventh Day Adventist Church, Rt. 9 and Roosevelt Blvd, Marmora. Interment will be held in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.
