Shockey, Beth, 38 of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away on February 17, 2013 after a courageous battle with heart disease. Beth was born on December 6, 1974 in San Jose, Mindoro, Philippines. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Education from Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila. Beth was the Vice President of Shockey’s Pure Water and was the immediate past President of the FAA Mainland Toastmasters, an organization very close to her heart. She also served as staff of the Lyceum of the Philippines University, Academic Coach to international students, and founding member of the Association of Peer Counselors in the Philippines. Prior to her coming to the United States, Beth was an avid peer counselor, mentor and guide. She had inspired many with her wisdom, enthusiasm, and leadership through lectures, trainings, and speeches. She is best known for her kindness and positive attitude. Her faith was her guiding light. She had a big spot in her heart for children and those in need. Beth and her husband had a dream to someday build an orphanage in the Philippines. She was passionate about cooking and gardening, and served everyone with grace. Beth is survived by her husband, Jerry; her father-in-law, George; brothers Jonathan, Jimmy, and Joel; her sister, Beng; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Amie Largesa Galang; her father, Villardo Galicia Garachico; and her sister, Elsa. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Beth’s life on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 3:00pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. Beth would have wanted to help the orphans in the Philippines.
