Wingert, Helen Mildred, 97, died quietly on Saturday, February 16, 2013 with her family by her side after a very short illness. Born in Fayetteville, PA, she previously lived in Hagerstown, MD before moving to New Jersey in 1970. She was very active in Catholic Daughters of America, was a member of Shore Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Shore Memorial Hospital for many years. Helen and her late husband Byron owned and operated Somers Point Kennels from 1970 until 1978. A quiet, gentle woman who lived in her own home, she loved to be with her family and friends. Helen enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and her word search puzzle books. She was predeceased by her dearest friend and companion, her husband, Byron; her son, Daniel; and her son-in-law, Dr. Sam Rubin. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Rubin of Linwood, and Ann Minton and her husband Dennis of Somers Point; her sister, Marguerite Cole of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 12:00pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 7:00pm until 8:00pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A prayer service will be offered at 8:00pm. Burial will be held Friday at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD. The family requests no flowers be sent and suggests donations be made in Helen’s memory to the charity of your choice.
