Berges, Ronald of Galloway, born on May 27, 1932, in Atlantic City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2014, after being tenderly cared for by his daughter Carol and other family members during a recent illness. Born and raised in Atlantic City, Ron graduated from Holy Spirit High School, and then enlisted and served in the US Navy for four years. After his service, Ron joined the family business his father had started in 1927, Berges Trenton Awning. Ron’s awning career spanned multiple generations and touched many lives. He worked alongside his devoted wife Nancy and daughter LuAnn tending the office for decades, and his son Richard, and fourth generation grandson, Nathanael, served on the cutting tables and in the field, all the while continuing a legacy they were proud to share as a family. Ron was recognized and well liked in the community. He was an excellent and avid bowler, and participated in local bowling leagues for 25 years. Ron was also the coach for the Pleasantville Tornadoes, and later became president of the Pleasantville Jokers Cape Atlantic Football Team. Ron was predeceased by his lovely wife Nancy and brother Louis, and will be greatly missed but dearly remembered by his three children and their spouses, LuAnn and Rick Halpin, Richard and Jolie Berges, and Carol and Larry Upton; his five grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Jennifer Halpin, Maria and Michael Campbell, Nathanael and Cigi Berges, and Kristen and Nicole Upton; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Rosalie Campbell and Aiden Halpin; and his sister Joan Battles. Ron left a lasting impression with everyone who had the blessing of being in his life, and his family is proud to continue the legacy he set forth. A Service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road in Northfield. A Visitation will begin at 9am until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ. Arrangements are entrusted to and written condolences may be sent to: www.Adams-Perfect.com.
