Marvin Ray Witmer, 72, of Ocean City, passed away peacefully at home on September 15th, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. He was a graduate of Ocean City High School, Cape May Technical School and the Richard Stockton State College of New Jersey. He was one of the original employees of Stockton College, and worked there for thirty-five years. He was the Director of Facilities, Planning & Development. His contribution to pioneering geothermal technology received national recognition. His influence is seen throughout Stockton’s campus. Marvin proudly served his country in the Navy from 1966 until 1970, as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He is predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Tyyne Witmer, and his beloved brother, Vincent. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Sallie, his devoted children, Michael (Maureen), Aimee (Mike) Brown, Jessica, and Joshua; his affectionate grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Brandon, and Justin; his caring siblings, Audrey Stanton, Helen Cobet, Francine Rosenthal, Sandy (Wayne) Brehm, Taimi (Bob) Young, Margie (Dave) Garcia, John (Patty), Donna (Jim) Wright, Thelma (Jon) Trego, Toni (John) Williams, and sister-in-law Winnie. He is also survived by over seventy adoring nieces and nephews. A gathering with family and friends will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, New Jersey 08225. A Service will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034.
