Kenneth Joseph Rouse, 78, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away at Linwood Star on August 20, 2012. He was born on June 8, 1934 in Camden, NJ.
He was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School class of 1952. He then proceeded to many institutes of higher learning including Tulane University, United States Armed Forces Institute, University of Virginia, Ryder University, Penn State University, Rowan University where he received his MA in Biology/Chemistry, and University of Pennsylvania where he received his MS. While attending Bloomfield College where he was the President of the student body class, he was very successful on the Prices Right with Bill Cullen for three days. In between all that schooling he served in the United States Army in the mid to late 50′s.
He taught and supervised the science department at Oakcrest High School from September of 1963 to June 1998. While teaching, he was the first to implement radio tracking of the white tailed deer in the state of NJ, and he also taught photography. In his last three years before retiring, he performed as the supervisor of science and math at Absegami High School. He had a zest for teaching and put his heart and soul into it.
While not working he had plenty to do, he loved photography and always had a camera with him either attached at his hip or in his car ready to shoot that next great shot. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, relatives, friends, and his four legged friends (his dogs) and being out on the water riding his waverunner enjoying all the nature that surrounded him. He also enjoyed traveling, writing, genealogy, camping, riding his motorcycle & quad, singing, and Broadway musicals. He was active with the Tilton Pool as President for many years, served on the board of education for Mainland Regional High School, instructor for Hunter Education for the state of NJ, and member of the Weekstown Gunning Club from 1954 to present.
