LCDR John C Lamey, USNR 84 of Somers Point passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Shore Medical Center. John was born on October 31, 1930 to Clarence and Irma (nee Person) Lamey in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia. He graduated from Northeast High School and West Chester State Teachers College in 1954. He received his commission in the United States Navy and served his country for 25 years, retiring as a Lt. Commander. His second career was at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, where he was the Director of Safety and Security for 15 years. Upon retirement John and his wife, Anita traveled throughout Europe and the Caribbean Islands and enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren. He is a member of the American Legion Clark-Eliason Post 352 and the Military Officers Association of America. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anita (nee Aikens), three children; Ellen Sekel (Jack), John Lamey, Jr. (Lori) and Michael Lamey, Sr. (Maria), six grandchildren; Kelli Lamey, Corey (Grant) Richey, Megan (Ryan) Ballard, Michael Lamey, Jr., Alissa Lamey and Miranda Lamey. John is also survived by his brothers; Robert (Carolyn) Lamey, and Richard (Diana) Lamey and nieces and nephews. A Gathering with the family will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 10am til 11am at Christ Episcopal Church. Followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Burial will be privately held by the family at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.
