Lashley, Bette – 92 of Absecon, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16th. Bette was born in Jacksonville, FL, and raised in New York and Vineland, before settling in West Atlantic City, where her family opened the local landmark, Ben’s Bar-B-Q. After graduating from Pleasantville H.S., she moved to Washington, DC to work for the Defense Department. It was here she met and married the love of her life, Bob Lashley. After the war, they settled in the Venice Park section of Atlantic City, where they raised a family and ran a beach chair business and hot dog concession under the boardwalk on New York Avenue. Bette had an easy, outgoing personality and touched the lives of everyone she met with her gentle ways and subtle wisdom. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Lashley; daughter Linda Fay; and sister Jan Baker. She is survived by her sons, Bob (Patti) and Jim (Sharren); her grandchildren, Jim, Jr. and Danielle; great granddaughter, Daryan; and extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 11:00am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A viewing will be held from 9:00am until the time of the service. Interment will be held in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.
