Irene Maria Wardencki Chojecki passed away at her home in Ft. Walton Beach, FL on Tuesday January 8, 2013 at the age of 82. Irene was born in Nowa Huta, Poland on May 24, 1930 to her parents Aleksander Chojecki and Anna Tomkowicz. Irene was the the oldest of three siblings Zbigniew Chojecki, Robert Chojecki, and her sister Barbara Chojecki. Irene grew up in Poland, and she was a survivor of the Holocaust. Regrettably, Irene lost her sister during the war. After the war, Irene came to America with her family in 1951. It wasn’t long until she met and married her husband Tadeusz Wardencki on July 5, 1952. Although they were married in Crown Point, Indiana, they had their marriage blessed in Pennsylvania. Irene was a self-made business woman. In New Jersey she ran two hotels and two fashion boutiques. She was also an avid wood carver, who loved to garden. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, oldest son Witold Wardencki, and her grandson David Wardencki. Irene is survived by her remaining five children, Elizabeth Salotti, Andrew Wardencki, Tadeusz “Teddy” Wardencki, Irene Wynn, and youngest son Stephen Wardencki. Irene is also survived by her eleven grandchildren Jessica Wardencki, Jenna Wardencki, Peter Salotti, Elizabeth Zompa, Andrew Wardencki, Teddy Wardencki, Timmy Wardencki, Alexandra Wardencki, Samantha Krumaker, and Victoria Briggs. She is also survived by her five great grandchildren. There was a private service held for the family in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. Irene will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township, NJ on Sunday January 13, 2013.
