On January 13, 2013 Michael Kafkalas Sr. went home with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Michael was Man of his Faith, Honor, Integrity, Giving and a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and a True Friend to all that knew him. Michael served his Country as a Second Lieutenant during the Korean War. A resident of Monongahela and Monesson PA for his first 51 years and retired 31 years from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Michael has currently lived in South Jersey for the past 32 years and owns and operated Katina’s Restaurant in Ocean City. Michael is predeceased by his Father Stephen, Mother Angela, Sister Kaliope and Brothers Nicholas and Democrates. Michael is survived by his Wife Catherine, Daughter Maria (Eugene) MacMurray; Sons Michael Jr. (Debra) and James Sr. (Deborah). Grandchildren Olivia, Shane (Tammy), Jessie(John), Marco Jr. (Jill), Nicholas, Catherine and James Jr. Great Grandchildren Marco III, Micah and Jayden. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 10am until 11am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Mill Road, EHT, NJ 08234. A service will follow at 11am. Burial will be held at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army New Jersey Division, P.O. Box 3170, Union, NJ 07083.
